Climb, Climb Up Sunshine Mountain

Sunday, September 4, 2005

This being Sunday, I want to write some things for which I am thankful.

I am thankful for the opportunity to see another country which is part of God's beautiful and awesome creation. I am thankful to be here and to help South Korea's children learn how to speak English.

I am thankful for hot water in my shower, for a bathtub and for a Western style toilet (really thankful for that. I'm not into squatting!!)

I am thankful for my wonderful home country of Canada and all the awesome opportunities we have there. We take so much for granted.

I am thankful for my family and friends back home who are keeping in touch with me by phone and email. IT REALLY MEANS A LOT!

I am thankful for my church family back home at Tapestry and I am missing them. I have not found a new church home here yet but am looking forward to finding one.

I am thankful for good health and strong legs to be able to climb up the mountain that Sheilagh and I climbed today. I thought I might not make it to the top but I did. It was amazing when we reached the top and sat in the pagoda and had a panoramic view of Yeonggwang. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, there was a beautiful breeze blowing and we were sourrounded by Roses of Sharon which is the national flower of South Korea. It reminded of the song that describes Christ as the Rose of Sharon - quite appropo on Sunday.

I am thankful for my darling daughter Shawna and her wonderful husband Prince Timmy. I miss them both very much!!

I am thankful for my Mom who I know is praying for me and is missing me very much! I love you Mom and I miss you too!!

And finally, I am thankful for Sheilagh who has really taken me under her wing and is showing me all around and being a great friend to me. Thanks Sheilagh.

What are you thankful for?
